Strong delegations from Italy and Russia at the Ski Archery World Cup in Forni Avoltri
All teams present in Germany three weeks ago gathered again in Italy last week-end for the second stage of the FITA 2006 Ski Archery World Cup.

Lausanne - January 31, 2006. The surprise in the Friday sprint competitions was the unexpected 100% Italian women?s podium, as a consequence of a late start of the best Russian athletes. The morning after, the Russians female competitors were eager to show their supremacy and Ekaterina Lougovkina found her way back to the pursuit podium, finishing third, while Italians Licia Piller Hoffer and Stefania d?Andrea struggled successfully to maintain their advantage, respectively on the first and second place.

However the Russian male competitors made things very clear: in the pursuit competition Pavel Borodin and Kostantin Pogorelov took the silver and the bronze over Andrej Zupan (SLO) and Bernhard Martin (GER) who held these positions respectively after the sprint event, behind the unreachable Vladimir Evtyukov who won the both events.

The Russian supremacy was confirmed once again in the Sunday mass start event, in both Men and Women?s categories, only Slovenian Andrej Zupan managed to get on the third step of the podium.

The whole ski archery family is now looking forward to attending the first international ski archery event ever held in Russia from 2 to 6 March.

The battle for the World Cup rankings will be most exciting at the Planernoe venue near Moscow, Andrej Zupan (SLO) and Bernhard Martin (GER) currently holding the total score lead. In the women?s category, the question is whether Italy will maintain their bronze position on the podium, currently shared by Nadia Peyrot and Stefania d?Andrea.
